Congratulations all!
Dr Mel, Dr Rosi and all the artists who have participated in the second leg of the ‘Hailans to Ailans’ international exhibition in Canada.
Wishing you all an enjoyable festive season and a break from your endeavours to promote PNG arts and yourselves as the iconic artists that you are. I too think a PNG tour would be great supported by the Government.
Will be publishing my post on Dr Mel’s performance at the R H Gallery, shortly.

Ms Pamela Rosi, Thank you for all yur support towards PNG Arts and Culture. I commend you andyour team highly. However, as a PNG I find whatever Assoc. Prof. Mel does overseas doesn’t do justice to all the issues he is raising in his performances or lectures. It is easy to convince outsiders about PNG culture but for us insiders it is rather difficult -because we can see straight through all the superficiality. –Please could you and Dr. Mel set up an art gallery in PNG or at rather at UOG as the Assoc. Prof. is an expert in local traditions and art – befitting of the title a Curator? Just a comment. P. Jacob

Ms Pamela Rosi and Team,
Congratulations to all the work that you are do to help all of us ‘once colonized’ find our voices! I do believe that eveyone has our interests at heart to go all out for us. My only reservation would be that PNG’s soul and identity is sold out in the process of trying to tell the world or rather showcase our PNG cultures because these PNG artists that you and your team are promoting have yet to showcase their work or performance here for PNG to see their value and appreciate them as true ambassadors of PNG. Perhaps a national tour in PNG would be order. I agree with other previous comments about seeing those artists perform for us in PNG as insiders of our various cultures. For instance, I am proud of Asso Prof Dr. Mel for what he has acheived internationally but on the homefront, I don’t know him because I have never seen him perform. I am a Highlander myself. Hailans to Ailans has been a great team effort and we certainly hope it will lead to other exhibitions in Papua New Guinea and abroad – and also to further cultural exchanges that stimulate new creativity and sharing. Perhaps you and consider doing a PNG tour when Asso.Prof. Mel returns to PNG. It would certainly be great to see ourselves what overseas people are seeing and hearing! Let the nation of PNG acclaim you and appreciate the dedicate work you have put into this sort of tour. Daniel.

Thanks, Hanson. Our main exhibitions and events for this first international show were in London, San Francisco, and Victoria. Perhaps Chicago will host the next big show of PNG art abroad!
