Pamela Rosi is a co-curator of Hailans to Ailans and editor of the accompanying exhibition catalogue. She is Visiting Associate Professor of Anthropology at Bridgewater State College, Massachusetts.
Pamela received her BA from Dickinson College, Pennsylvania and her MA and Ph.D from Bryn Mawr College, Pennsylvania. Since conducting her dissertation research at the Papua New Guinea National Arts School in 1986, her research has focused on the contemporary arts of PNG and the contributions of art and architecture to the development of PNG culture and identity. She has curated exhibitions of contemporary PNG are at Monmouth University, New Jersey; Bryn Mawr College, Bridgewater State College, Massachusetts; and at the Nijmeegs Volkenkundig Museum at Radbound University, Nijmegen, The Netherlands. In 2003 and 2004, she coedited ‘Conceptualizing World Art Studies’ in the International Journal of Anthropology (vol.18, no, 4), and ‘Confronting World Art’, a special issue of Visual Anthropology (vol. 17, nos 3-4). She is co-editor of Exploring World Art (Waveland Press, 2006).
